Terms and Conditions
These Terms and
Conditions aim at defining the conditions through which Euronews makes
available the Services to the Users that use academy.euronews.com (“the Site”), the rights and obligations of the Users and any other
relevant information relating to the Site.
Please read carefully
these Terms and Conditions before browsing and using the Site. By browsing and
using our Site, you accept to be bound by these Terms and Conditions that
constitute an agreement between you and Euronews, without limitation. If you do
not agree with these Terms and Conditions, please do not use the Site.
Account means a personal space created by you to access our online courses or other future Services after identifying you with your email address and password
Communication means information about current and upcoming courses, promotion, content marketing (e.g. interviews with trainers, users’ testimonials) etc.
Services means collectively any online facilities, tools, services or information that Euronews makes available through the Site either now or in the future.
User means any individual person that use the Site, whether a visitor or a person registered
You means any User of the Site
The Services include:
(a) Online courses including language courses
We offer a wide variety of online courses relating to, intern alia, journalism, management, personal development and audiovisual production for professionals and/or students, and online language courses.
If you do not wish to create an Account, you may only access to our courses’ catalogue to be informed of our courses that are available. We suggest you to subscribe to our Communication to get more information (see (b)).
Creation of your Account
In order to access our online courses, you need to create an Account. To do so, you must read and agree with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
By registering, you declare that you have the capacity to accept these Terms and Conditions, i.e. that you are over 16 years old and/or not subject to a legal protection measure for adults. Our Services target adults persons only. If you are under the age of 16 or under a legal protection measure, you shall obtain the prior authorization of the holder of parental responsibility or your guardians, who are responsible for compliance by you with these Terms and Conditions and for acceptance of our Privacy Policy.
You can create an Account by providing your name, your email address and a password. You can access, modify or delete your Account.
After signing in, we send you an email to confirm your registration. You will also receive an email to confirm each of your course enrollments.
Your commitments
When you register, you undertake:
- to provide accurate and complete information or personal data that you may update or change through your Account. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of those information.
- to keep your password secret and not to communicate it to anyone. Any access to our Services through your identifier and password are deemed to have been made by you.
- In the event of loss or disclosure of your password, you agree to inform Euronews immediately by contacting us at academy@euronews.com so that we can deactivate your Account or allow you to replace the password. You are solely responsible for the use made of your Account by a third party and any consequences arising from such loose or disclosure as long as you have not expressly notified Euronews of the loss, fraudulent use or disclosure of your password to a third party. You are solely responsible for choosing a secure password. You may use some password-makers such as those of the CNIL.
- not to create or using other Accounts under your own identity or that of a third party that the one you have initially created.
- not to authorise any third party to use your Account and not assigning or transfer your Account to any other person or entity.
If you do not comply with these commitments, we reserve the right to suspend or delete your Account.
Your password
In case you forget your password, you can generate a new one by clicking on “forgot password?”.
You have the possibility to change your password at any time.
Quiz and surveys
By using the Services, you agree that we may ask you to complete quizzes during a course to evaluate your knowledge and make the course more interactive for you. You can try to complete it indefinitely. We can also ask you to answer to a survey at the beginning of the course of after, in order to know you and your interests so that we can improve our Services and create courses that may be of better interest to you.
Follow up of your enrollments and progression
You can access your profile to follow up your enrollments and your progression.
We may send you an automatic email to remind you that you enrolled to a specific course.
Certificates
When you complete a course, you can download a personal certificate of completion.
Badges
If the option is activated in the school, you can view your badges.
Deletion of your Account
If you want to delete your Account, you can navigate on your Profile Page -> Edit -> Privacy Settings -> Advanced Privacy Settings. You can also send us an email at
academy@euronews.com specifying clearly that you want to do so. Your request must be sent from your email address with which you have created your Account in order to ensure that you are behind the request.
The deletion is irreversible. This deletion will make your personal data permanently deleted and your history on the Site will be anonymized. In the event that we set up a discussion forum, your comments and posts will be anonymized.
We may process your deletion request within 2 weeks after receiving it.
Pursuant to the Data Protection Law, if you do not delete your Account but your remain inactive on the Site, your Account will be deleted 2 years after your last use of the Site.
(b) Communication
Whether you create an Account or not, you can subscribe to our Communication by providing us your email address in the corresponding email capture field on the Site.
This Communication aims at informing you about current and upcoming courses, promotion, content marketing (e.g. interviews with trainers, users’ testimonials) etc.
These Communications may be sent to you at irregular intervals, depending on the information to be provided.
We may also send you emails asking for your feedback relating to a specific course you have attended. This feedback can be given through comments and/or a mark.
Please note that you use the Site and its
Services at your own risk and under your full responsibility.
Whether you have created an Account, have
subscribed to our Communication, or not, you undertake:
- not to alter or disrupt the integrity of the
Site and/or any personal data and information
- not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to
the Site or to intercept any personal data or information
- not to use or reproduce any Content and Services
as stated in section 6 Intellectual property
- to use the Site in compliance with these Terms
and Conditions and applicable national and/or international laws and
regulations.
a. Accuracy of information
Euronews takes reasonable care to ensure
information on the Site is accurate and complete and that any opinions given
are fair and reasonable.
However, we disclaim any express or implied warranties in relation to such
information and opinions to the maximum extent permitted by Applicable Law. In
addition, our online courses reflect the state of the art as it currently
stands. The information or numbers provided within courses may vary and become
obsolete quickly. Euronews may create new courses or update some courses to
update such information at its own discretion only. For the avoidance of doubt,
Euronews cannot be held responsible for the use of information on the Site and
for any damage, whatever the nature, except in case of gross negligence and
willful misconduct, which may result from the use or any action or decision
taken based on any information on the Site.
b. External hyperlinks
In addition, we may publish some hyperlinks,
for instance, to support our explanations during a course that point to
external sources. The fact that we provide such hyperlinks do not mean in any
way that we valid their content. It is your responsibility to use the
information of such hyperlinks with discernment and a critical mind. Euronews cannot
be held responsible for information, opinions and recommendations expressed by
third parties and for any damage, whatever the nature, resulting from the use
of information accessible through the hyperlinks. Euronews does not appropriate
the content to which these hyperlinks give access, and makes no representations
and warranties about the veracity, relevance, legality or any other warranties
of their content. However, if Euronews becomes aware of the unlawfulness of any
hyperlink, such hyperlink will be deleted.
c. Personal data
Except in case of gross negligence and willful
misconduct, Euronews will in no way be held responsible for any damage
resulting from errors, omissions or inaccuracies, regarding your information or
personal data that you have provided us.
d. Accessibility of the Site
You acknowledge that the Site may not be
available from time-to-time. Euronews makes no representations or warranties
about the permanent accessibility of the Site that is an obligation of means of
Euronews, and that may be limited, for instance, because of difficulties
inherent in the functioning of the Internet network and more generally of telecommunication
networks. Euronews will make its best efforts to ensure the proper functioning
of the Site and its accessibility. Our Site may be temporally inaccessible in
case of update for technical development, maintenance or improvement for
instance.
More generally, the interruption, suspension,
disruption, slowing down or inaccessibility of the Site and the Services,
whatever the reason, duration and frequency, will not engage Euronews’
responsibility and will not entitle you to any compensation.
Thus, Euronews cannot be held responsible for
any damage, whatever the nature, resulting from the interruption, suspension,
disruption, slowing down or inaccessibility of the Site or the Services. Likewise, Euronews cannot be held responsible for any damage to hardware,
software or data suffered by you because of your use of the Site.
e. Generally
For the avoidance of doubt, Euronews is not
responsible either for:
- any damage arising from your fact, the fact of a
third party or a case of force majeure.
- Any direct damage suffered by you or a third
party that do not result from the non-fulfillment of our obligations
- Any indirect damage resulting from the use of
the Site, such as - without limitation - operating losses (turnover, income or
profits), loss of opportunities, image damage or reputation, commercial or
economic damage;
All technical, graphic, textual or other elements constituting the Services and/or the Site (texts, graphics, software, multimedia files, photographs, images, videos, sounds, maps, graphic charter, technologies, source codes, names, brands, logos, visuals, databases, etc.) (the “
Content”) as well as our Site and the Services themselves are the exclusive property of Euronews or our web host or our partners carrying out some courses. The entire Contents of the Site are copyrighted and/or protected by other intellectual property rights. You may not reproduce, use, copy, modify, publish, translate, broadcast, transmit, transfer, sale, create derivative works, or in any way exploit, any of the Content of the Site, in whole or in part.
You acknowledge that no property or any right or license is granted to you, other than the right to use the Services in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
Any unauthorized use or act as described above in relation to the Services and the Content engages you civil and/or criminal liability and may results in legal proceedings.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of France (“Applicable Law”). Any dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France.
If any provision of this Terms and Conditions is held by the applicable law, any court or other competent authority to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal, the remainder of the Terms and Conditions will remain effective and will be construed as if the invalid, unenforceable or illegal provision were not contained in these Terms and Conditions.
Euronews may adapt or modify these Terms and
Conditions at any time.
